A celebration of young artists throughout Delaware County. Submissions accepted February 27th-March 8th.

The 2019 Young Artist Exhibition features the artwork of Delaware County school children in Kindergarten through 12th grade and current students of Cornerstone Center for the Arts, providing a public showcase for creativity, individuality, and self-expression.

Works in 2D and 3D media created by local young artists will be shown in a curated public exhibition at Cornerstone Center for the Arts on Thursday, March 14. A jury panel will provide awards in the following categories: K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade 2D, 6th-8th grade 3D, 9th-12th grade 2D, and 9th-12th grade 3D. First, second, third place and honorable mention awards will be presented. A Reception and Awards Presentation will take place in the Colonnade Room on the first floor of Cornerstone on Thursday, March 14 from 5:30-8:00 pm with award winners announced at 6:30 pm.

Thank you for taking the time to enter the Young Artists Exhibition. Submissions will be accepted at Cornerstone Center for the Arts from February 27 to March 8.

GENERAL RULES

  1. Open to children Kindergarten – 12th grade who reside in Delaware County or are current students of Cornerstone Center for the Arts (enrollment/involvement will be validated). Students who are homeschooled, attend private or charter school, and those who attend public school are welcome to enter.
  2. Grade categories: K – 2nd, 3rd – 5th, 6th – 8th 2D, 6th – 8th 3D, 9th – 12th 2D, 9th – 12th 3D
  3. Award categories per grade: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place & Honorable Mention

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. Teachers may submit up to 10 entries and individual/independent students may submit up to 3 entries.

2. 2-D and 3-D work will be accepted. K-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade categoeis will have 2D and 3D work judged together. 6th-8th and 9th-12th grades will be separated between 2D and 3D works.

  • Works on paper and/or canvas cannot exceed 18” x 24”.
  •  It is encouraged that 2-D (especially paper) works are matted. 2-D works will be displayed on tables, easels, and risers.
  • 3-D work should be self-supportive and not exceed 48” H x 30” W x 30” D and 50 pounds.
  • All artwork must be original – not copied from famous works of art or any other printed materials. If you have questions about this, please contact Cornerstone’s Education Department at 765-281-9503 ext. 15. 

3. Artwork that does not meet the above criteria will not be considered for the show.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  1. A limited number of submissions will be permitted. The Young Artist Exhibition committee reserves the right to limit and/or reject entries if the limit of submissions is reached, or if work is deemed inappropriate.
  2. Entry forms are available from Cornerstone at cornerstonearts.org and at the 2nd floor desk at Cornerstone Center for the Arts; and from PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union at PrimeTrustCU.com and all three PrimeTrust branches.
  3. Pieces will be available for pick up after the reception on Thursday, March 14 through Thursday, March 21, unless other arrangements have been made.
  4. Show winners will be framed and featured in the Cornerstone Art Gallery during the month of April. A special gallery opening and reception featuring winning artwork will be open to the public Thursday, April 4 during downtown's First Thursday Arts Walk. Winners may also have their artwork on display at PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union's branches beginning in May. Winners should plan to not collect their artwork until June.
